my tattoo artist is a sweetheart but i’m a total crybaby and ended up shaking throughout the tattoo. i think he did well considering that! it took about ten minutes and i’m so incredibly proud of it. it was done in my own handwriting by the wonderful dave in leicestershire, england, and it’s my favourite thing about me.

In braille it reads ’ I did it my way ‘, This tattoo is dedicated to my grandparents. My nan-nan was blind for the majority of her life making her the most inspirational person I have ever met. For the phrase, I chose the song “My way” by Frank Sinatra because my grandfathers favorite albums to play around the house were always Sinatra albums ( this being the song I heard most frequently at his house ). This tattoo is extremely special for me.

For my first tattoo, I wanted something related to literature. It started out as “With love and squalor,” a reference to JD Salinger’s short story. After some thought, I shortened it to “with love,” an open-ended statement. It can mean so many things.

Last summer my bestie and I took a road trip to CO to see the Avett Brothers in concert in Boulder and Red Rocks. It was one of the most awesome and beautiful trips I’ve ever taken. While in Denver we thought we might get a tattoo commemorate the trip, but not knowing any local artists, and not having a whole lot of extra time to do the tattoos we put it off til later.
This last January we finally made our appointment. Mel D of Inkjunkies in Tulsa, OK has done work on both of us before, and he is always great. She got a birdcage on her arm (to match the lyrics in Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise), and I got this bit of lyrics from Laundry Room.
Also, yes, tattoos on your feet fucking hurt.

I got this little cutie on my wrist because I’m studying to be a photographer at the moment, I basically just love taking and editing photos! The colours were changed slightly so the it looks more balanced, and when the healing process is complete, I’ll be going back to get it touched up, but I’m very happy with it! :D Danny Charles @ True Gent Tattoos, Lincolnshire has some amazing work, he was the ideal person for the job!
